On September 11, 2001 my parents were visiting my sister and her family in Pennsylvania. Shanksville is only 34 miles from where she lives. I called to ask if they had the TV on. They did not, and the plane had not yet crashed. We watched together in horror, they in Pennsylvania and I in Maine.
I will never forget all those lives lost on that field in Pennsylvania, the towers in New York City, and at the Pentagon.
Like you, I will never forget either. Thanks for posting this.
ReplyDeleteJana,
ReplyDeleteIt's truly a day of mourning still.

I was a truly sad and very traumatic day for us here in Northern VA. So many of our friends and neighbors were affected.

Theresa,
DeleteYes, living so close must have been traumatic.
Thanks for stopping by.

Valerie, how horrible that must have been, to watch the whole thing unfold, with your parents and your sister's family so close to where the next scene was about to take place. Thank you for posting your remembrance of that difficult time.
ReplyDeleteJacqi,
DeleteI have often wondered how differently that day could have turned our for our family.
Thank you for taking the time to stop by.
